A quick and easy 15-minute dinner featuring shrimp glazed in a sticky, sweet, and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced thin

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 pound of large raw shrimp and pat dry with paper towels. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 4 cloves minced garlic, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes if using. Stir until well blended.
  3. Place a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Warm for about 1 minute until shimmering but not smoking.
  4. Add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side without moving to get a nice sear. Flip when edges turn pink and opaque.
  5. Flip the shrimp and immediately pour the honey garlic glaze into the pan. Stir gently to coat shrimp evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp are fully pink and the glaze thickens to a sticky shine.
  6. Remove from heat. Season with freshly ground black pepper to taste. Sprinkle sliced green onions over the top.
  7. Serve immediately over steamed rice, quinoa, or your favorite greens.

Notes

Do not overcook shrimp to avoid rubbery texture. Pat shrimp dry before cooking to ensure a good sear and glaze adhesion. Use medium heat to prevent garlic from burning. If glaze thickens too quickly or burns, reduce heat. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos. For vegan option, replace shrimp with firm tofu and honey with maple syrup.
