A quick and easy salmon recipe featuring a perfectly balanced honey sriracha glaze that delivers sweet, spicy, and crispy flavors. Ideal for weeknight dinners or impressing guests with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets, skin-on, about 6 oz (170 g) each, wild-caught recommended
  • 3 tablespoons honey (mild, runny)
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and fresh lime juice. Set aside.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Lightly season both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  3. Heat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Heat until shimmering but not smoking, about 2 minutes.
  4. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet. Press down gently with a spatula to keep the skin flat against the pan. Cook for 5-6 minutes without moving them until the skin is golden brown and crisp.
  5. Flip the salmon carefully and reduce heat to medium. Spoon the honey sriracha glaze over the cooked side of the salmon. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, basting occasionally with the glaze until salmon is opaque and flakes easily.
  6. Check for doneness; total cooking time is about 10 minutes.
  7. Serve immediately, spooning any extra glaze from the pan on top and garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure crispy skin. Do not move salmon while cooking skin-side down. Adjust sriracha for desired spice level. Let salmon rest a few minutes after cooking to lock in juices. For gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce. Maple syrup can substitute honey. Toasted sesame seeds add extra crunch and flavor.
