  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • Orange gel food coloring
  • Yellow gel food coloring
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace: Spray your 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Once melted, add 4 cups of mini marshmallows, stirring constantly until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  4. Quickly mix in 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal until fully coated with the marshmallow mixture. Work quickly to avoid hardening.
  5. Separate the mixture evenly into three bowls. Add orange gel food coloring to one bowl and yellow gel food coloring to another. Leave the third bowl plain for the white layer.
  6. Press the yellow mixture into your prepared baking dish as the base layer. Use wax paper to smooth it into an even layer.
  7. Add the orange mixture on top, pressing it down gently but firmly. Smooth again with wax paper.
  8. Finish with the white layer, pressing it firmly to complete the candy corn effect.
  9. Let the treats cool for 30 minutes before slicing into squares or rectangles.
