Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tablespoons water (if using cornstarch, mix it into the water before adding)
  • 6 flour tortillas (10-inch, cut into wedges)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small, bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Cook the apples for about 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and caramelized.
  4. If you prefer a thicker dip, mix the cornstarch into the water, then add the mixture to the skillet. Stir well and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the dip cool slightly before serving.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  7. Cut the flour tortillas into small wedges or strips, depending on your preference.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon together.
  9. Brush both sides of each tortilla wedge with melted butter, then sprinkle generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  10. Arrange the wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  11. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the chips are golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning.
