decadent chocolate fondue recipe - featured image

A rich and velvety chocolate fondue that melts smoothly and pairs perfectly with assorted dippers, ideal for cozy nights, parties, or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 cup heavy cream, room temperature
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • 1 tbsp optional liqueur (Grand Marnier, Kahlua, or favorite liqueur)

Instructions

  1. Chop your chocolate into small, even pieces if using a chocolate bar. Set aside. (5 minutes)
  2. Gently warm the heavy cream over medium-low heat in a fondue pot or small saucepan until just about to simmer, but do not boil. (3-4 minutes)
  3. Remove from heat and immediately add the chopped chocolate and softened butter. Let sit for about 2 minutes to soften before stirring.
  4. Gently stir the mixture with a wooden spoon or spatula until silky smooth and glossy. If chocolate hasn’t fully melted, place pot back on very low heat and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes. (5 minutes)
  5. Stir in vanilla extract, sea salt, and optional liqueur. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired.
  6. Prepare assorted dippers by washing and drying fruits and cutting baked goods into bite-sized pieces. Arrange on a platter or bowls. (10 minutes)
  7. Transfer fondue pot to the center of the table with heat source on low to keep warm. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

If chocolate thickens as it cools, stir in a splash of warm cream to loosen. Use low heat to avoid burning or seizing. For vegan/dairy-free, substitute dairy-free chocolate and coconut or cashew cream. Clean tools promptly to avoid hardened chocolate.
