This quick and easy chocolate fondue is the perfect romantic dessert for Valentine’s Day or any sweet occasion. Rich, silky chocolate is melted with cream and butter, then served with your favorite dippers for a fun, shareable treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 oz dark chocolate (at least 60% cocoa), chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Banana slices
  • Apple chunks or pear slices
  • Marshmallows
  • Brownie or pound cake cubes
  • Pretzel rods or sticks
  • Cookies (shortbread, biscotti, graham crackers)
  • Chopped nuts (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)
  • Mini donuts or churros (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice fruit dippers; cut cake, brownies, or cookies into bite-sized pieces. Arrange all dippers on a serving platter.
  2. Fill a small saucepan with 1 inch of water and bring to a gentle simmer. Place a heatproof bowl on top, ensuring the bottom doesn’t touch the water.
  3. Add chopped chocolate, heavy cream, and butter to the bowl. Stir gently as the mixture melts over low heat for 3–5 minutes until glossy and smooth.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Taste and adjust sweetness or add-ins as desired.
  5. Pour melted chocolate into a fondue pot, small bowl, or ramekin. Keep warm if possible.
  6. Dip prepared dippers into the chocolate and enjoy. Reheat gently if chocolate thickens.
  7. If chocolate seizes or becomes grainy, add a tablespoon of warm cream and stir until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.

Notes

Use high-quality chocolate for best results. Prep dippers before melting chocolate. For dairy-free or vegan, use coconut cream or almond milk and vegan chocolate. If chocolate thickens, add a splash of cream and reheat gently. Experiment with add-ins like espresso powder, cinnamon, or orange zest for flavor twists.
